The hospital itself is okay. I’ve stayed here a few times due to typhus and dengue fever. A long time ago, they had Prof. Nelwan who was a stellar doctor for these tropical diseases and very attentive to his patients.
If you’re in MMC to see
dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Sp.PD-KEMD, Phd, I recommend you to NOT see him. Though he is a well-known doctor, due to the number of patients he tries to cram into his short period of practice hours, you’d be lucky if you get a 5 min. diagnosis. First of all, he only practices two days in a week at MMC for 3-4 hours. He would stay longer Sometimes. Secondly, In those hours he would see 50-70+ patients! So, you can imagine how very short his diagnosis time is. Totally ridiculous! He doesn’t even have time to listen to you thoroughly. Mid-sentence he tells you to lie down. Thirdly, he is not adept with patients complaints of medicine side effects. He doesn’t ask the right questions on the side effects of the prolonged consumption of his prescribed meds. He would only ask one symptoms of the side effects instead of trying to find out more from the patients. Then, he would still try to push the same medicine to you. He is very commercial and cares more to sell meds of his partners than the well being of his patients.
I was charged USD85 for less than 5 mins diagnosis! Plus he tried to prescribe the same meds that almost made me unable to walk! He didn’t listen and tried to find out more of my symptoms and complaints.
I used to see him because other doctors told me to see him. So, I used to wait 5-6 hours to see him. He would also change his practice times on the spot.
The doctor-hospital arrangement in Indonesia needs to change. For proper care for patients, doctors should be in-house doctors and practice every day in the same hospital. 50+ patients should be handled in a day of practice shift, not 3-4 hours of practice schedule.
the system today is HORRIBLE! And Dr. Dante is definitely NOT the doctor to see if you need a thorough examination with a good consultation discussion. See other endocrinologist with the same qualifications and experience. I assure you, it is a life-saving decision.
