It’s always daunting to try a new gym, especially as a beginner, but The Bar made me feel very welcome. The staffs and coaches were consistently friendly and helpful. They guide me from the start, making sure I wasn’t standing around confused not knowing what to do.
The Bar made it even more straightforward by focusing largely on free weights rather than machines, which intrigued me the most into coming here in the first place. Free weights are harder to master, yes, they work more muscles and require more core strength than machines to stabilize your movements. But they are more versatile — they can go any direction you want and can be used for a lot of different workouts, acquainting you quickly with the equipments.
A membership here also comes with a training program and their own app that lets you track your weights and reps, and we all know how motivating the power of progress is.
After going to The Bar for two weeks, I’ve also noticed that there were a lot of other newbies here. They are not intimidatingly ripped and most of them still need guidance from the coaches who are always on the floor, willing to help. It makes me feel more at ease to know that I’m not the only non-expert gym-goers here.
Another plus is even though the gym isn’t generally spacious, the place is never too crowded to comfortably exercise any time of the day.
