Had my mom’s birthday lunch at the Royal Eight. Most of the dimsums were excellent; hakau was outstanding! Our other favorite was sapi lada hitam. Ambience was nice and staffs were very helpful. Will come back for more :)

Had a lunch in this restaurant with my friends. Staff are friendly, the restaurant is clean and the service is good. All of the food are fresh and well executed. I recommend the xiao long bao and the black paper chicken. The black paper chicken sauce is not too strong and taste so good to me. I don’t recommend you to try something that wrapped with green things (forget the name of the dish). There’s some rice kind of thing and pork inside (it’s more like bak cang) but it’s too mushy and hard to eat. Overall is good!

Royal Eight Restaurant located in 5th floor JHL.
This Restaurant can be used for proposals and wedding.
The food is taste OK with various choice of Chinese food.

I would like to share you all about my experience eating in this place, the place is very noisy, be careful for the one who had allergy, we ordered fried noodle but ordered them to exclude the sesame seed, because our child has allergy, but guess what, they still give sesame seed, after that, we take away the duck, but they dont give us the sauce, also they are forget to give us our last order, they give it to us, when we are already outside from restaurant, pretty bad service for food that has very high price

We had dinner during Imlek-day evening, with 18:00 reservation for 4pax.

Atmosphere : A bit gloomy, the yellow vintage steel-bar ornament give a "prison-like" feeling.

Service :
Very bad experience for us, given their claim as "semi-fine" dining.
We arrived at 18:05. Maitre'd told us that the table is not ready yet (which is OK for us) and they will set it ASAP, so we head down the outdoor bar u0026 pool to give them time in setting the table. 5 minutes later, we enter the dining-hall, and our table is still empty with no-one attending. So we asked the maitre'd to give us other table that is ready (there are 2 other table that is perfectly set). Maitre'd told us that the tables are reserved for other person. So we sat u0026 waited at our table. Still no one come to attend our table, instead some waiters attend other table. So we strongly complained.
No pickles or peanuts served.
My daughter asked for spoon u0026 fork, and the waiter forgot the request. After dinner, no toothpicks served also (unless you asked), which is uncommon for a chinese restaurant.

Food :
Dimsum; we ordered 4 baskets (hakaus, xiao long pao, vietnamese cheong fan). They are delicate u0026 unique.
For mains, pork cha siew served with mantao, is delicious. However, roast duck is bland and chewy.

Price : We paid 1mio IDR in total (our beverage is jasmine tea).

Will we repeat to visit?
Highly unlikely.

Satisfied...
Pricey, but you get what you pay..
Almost all the dishes we ordered were very recommended..
The desserts are really delicious.. amaze with the orange pudding..
Food presentation were sophisticated..
Service is perfect, from chatting the staff to ask for reservation, menu, pre ordered, all are lovely experience..
