This place is very nice for afternoon tea, but I came for a bar takeover event this time. We tried a new cocktail by Mason. It was good. I like Matador. But, my favourite cocktail is still the one made by Intan. I like the ambience by day and night. It’s very different. This place is nice for dates, imo, but price wise, it’s a bit pricey, but it is worth it.

One of my favorite place. Cozy with a good ambiance, and they also have super friendly bartenders and helpful waiter.
But i heard that my favorite bartender (Rio) will resign ????..
I think I’m gonna loose my favorite person there.. but ya i hope it still gonna be a good place and congratulations for your new afternoon tea menu..

Located within Raffles Hotel, Writers Bar offers one of the most, if not the best, value for money when it comes to afternoon tea in Jakarta.

To make a reservation, you must put a deposit of 300k, but I don’t think that’s necessary as the place was pretty empty when my group arrived. To save up some cash, be sure to check Chope for available voucher.

The Raffles Afternoon Tea set (500k for 2 pax) is enough for 3-4 persons (we were a group of three and couldn’t finish it off), offering full portion sizes of sandwiches, scones, and cakes compared to the bite-sized pieces offered by similar venues in town.

We started with the savoury options, which included the Multigrain Grissini (thin Italian bread sticks) wrapped with smoked salmon and capers cream. Sandwiches portions were quite big, but tasted just like any other tea sandwiches elsewhere. The most interesting offering was definitely the foie gras u0026 raspberry macaroons. The combination of sweetness and umaminess were definitely unusual, though I don’t know if I actually like the taste.

Scones texture were good, though I couldn’t really taste the orange in the scones. The orange flavoured clotted cream was surprisingly good though, with a nice kick of tang that pairs well with the jam. The cakes and tarts were decent, but can get overwhelmingly heavy after a while. Fortunately, the Guava Citrus and Pinacoco Cubes provided enough sweet-sour balance to counteract the sweetness of the other chocolate based cakes.

Tea options were not the most varied, but they had enough options beyond the usual english breakfast and early grey tea.

Ambiance
Place was quiet and cozy. The seats were a bit uncomfortable because they were too plush. Tables were those coffe tables that are too low for you to eat foods.

Servers were friendly, but it can be difficult to get their attention

CASUALLY ELEGANT

There's nothing perfect than a divine and absolute place. Go visit @thewritersbar which is located in @raffleshoteljakarta.

The Writers Bar has a cozy and glamorous ambiance with a sophisticated menu. Such a comfy place to mingle and good talk.

Enjoy every spot with live jazz music while sipping your favorite classic cocktails, feeling the vibes of the golden era.

On Christmas eve, I spent the afternoon with my friend here.

We love the ambiance, not too crowded, most visitors sat outside at that time. Me and my friend, prefer to sit indoor. The distance between seats is according to the health protocol during this corona pandemic.
We ordered Stamford high tea and get savory and sweet pastries. I like my black tea while my friend loves her earl grey’s tea.

The music playing not too loud, so allowing people to have a nice chit chat, without have to raising our voice.
You can refill the tea for 2 times. But first refill is enough for both of us. And since we were unable to finish the pastry, I asked them to takeaway the rest of them. The packaging is good for us to bring the pastry back home.

I’m a big fan of afternoon tea. This is one of the better place to indulge an afternoon tea in Jakarta by far. We made a reservation two days prior and requested for a gluten-free set. We were very happy that the chef managed to prepare it for us. Love the ambiance, filled with soothing jazz music, quiet place to chill your weekend. A glossy white piano is displayed at the centre of the lounge, blended with it’s interior. The place is elegantly accessorised with modern furnishings, infused with traditional Indonesian paintings on the wall. It has a separate room, spacious enough for 6-8 pax.

Service is good, staff is attentive and responsive. Able to communicate in English well.

Both savoury and pastry/desserts are delicious, pastry are not too sweet which is a good thing and healthier. Choices of beverages are coffee, hot tea and fruit juices which are part of the afternoon tea set menu. We had two sets of #gluten-free afternoon tea, the bill was IDR423,500, which is a reasonable price to me.

Btw, we were provided with a tube of hand sanitizer, and anti-bacterial wet wipe. And an paper envelope to place our used face masks.

The decor has a very “Hemingway” feel to it. It isn’t crowded so that adds to the atmosphere. The staff are friendly and the bar tenders knowledgeable. Try the negroni flights. There are quite a variety of unique ones to try not available anywhere else.
