Decent enough place to stay long term.
I stayed here for 1.5 months.
Pros:
- friendly staff
- amazing pool view. Seeing the squirrels jumping around on the trees. Beautiful greenery all around the hotel
- insects nothing to worry about. I stayed on the 3rd floor and this surely helped too. A few ants. Once I had two cockroaches in the bathroom, but it’s what you can expect in Bali, and this was a rare one-off. Living area and bedroom were spotless the whole time. I’m someone who doesn’t stay in places that get lots of insects, and here I had no problem. A few friendly geckos walking around outside the building, but none ever ventured into my apartment.
- great cleaning done by staff. The quality of the cleaning and friendliness of the staff were great. I even left my valuables lying around a few times and nothing to worry about.
- great location. Outside the madness of Canggu and near some great restaurants in Seminyak like Nook, Warung Dua Umalas, Pison and many others. The area is tranquil and quiet.
- the garden and pool. It’s worth an extra mention. I always felt really grateful to be able to live in such a place.
Cons:
- pool could be cleaner. They kept a cleaner pool towards the end of my stay but it was never quite clean. Once I stepped on a sharp object in the pool. Notified staff. All good. Just do watch out.
- they don’t warn people properly about the fogging procedure they do. This is a big one. Once I left the apartment to head to the lobby when suddenly I was engulfed by a mountain of smoke. It’s the chemical agent they use to keep the hotel as mosquito and insect free as possible. This is a common procedure in Bali, but what’s not common is to surprise guests with a shower of chemical smoke. Supposedly they tried to notify me about this but clearly they didn’t go about it the right way. I’d expect a letter or note being put under the door, the day before. As well as a warning in the lobby that’s clearly visible. Lucky that I’m not asthmatic. And who knows what was in those chemicals and if there are long term consequences to this kind of exposure. This is really next level unprofessionalism, and all the staff did was to give me empty apologies. Next time they did this I received a phone call that morning. If o didn’t pick up the phone call, who knows if I would’ve received the warning in time.
- no antiseptic spray in gym, no paper towels to wipe down equipment, all this during a global pandemic. Either close the gym or make it safe to use!
- a hotel in disrepair. The daily cleaning is on par but the general maintenance of the hotel is kept to the bare bones standard.
- poor wifi on upper floors. The wifi around the pool area was great, but in my room it was barely working, and sometimes not working at all. I notified the staff on check in. They said they’d look into it. It was bad all throughout. Do yourself a favour and tether from your phone.
- hidden costs. The staff didn’t tell me about the extra cost of kitchen utensils when I was inspecting the place. I only found out after check in. Super dodgy!! There’s also an additional cost for the gas connection. Fine that there is. But I expect to be notified about this from the get go. Of course.
- stinky couch pillows. The couch desperately needs a long steam clean session. Just nasty. I hardly used it and when I did I put some covers over the top of it. Had to ask staff to wash the couch pillows, which they did.
Overall I’d consider staying again, but I’d first check out some other places before settling on this one.
