Stayed for a night at a Standard Room with no breakfast included. The hotel is situated at a very good location in the city centre and so it’s very convenient going to and from places. We requested a non-smoking room and early check-in upon booking the hotel (about 2 weeks before actual check-in date). When I rang the hotel the day (around 7am) of our check-in date to confirm our early check-in request (~11am, as opposed to regular 2pm check-in time), we were told this wasn’t possible, despite my request to do so since 2 weeks prior. We arrived in Surabaya by train so had a lot of luggage we had to lug around the city before checking in at 2pm. Our check-in itself was pretty quick with friendly staff, however when we arrived in our room, it stunk of smoke, despite it being a non-smoking room. We requested a room change because neither of us could stand the stench. We got moved to another room on another floor (with no staff to help with luggage this time), but still got a stinky room. We gave up and decided to stay there anyway. The price was suitable for value. It was a bit dirty in some corners of the room, and the fake wood/plastic floorboards in the bathroom were soggy upon arrival due to poor separation from the actual shower area and bathroom floor. We were thankful we only had to stay a night because I don’t think we could’ve handled another night there. 3 stars because of its strategic location.
