Too many sad stories told through this museum. This place is a collection of things that Merapi has erupted so violently and destroyed the life around it. We hope that in the future all levels of society and government can work together in dealing with Mount Merapi.

The displays are interesting, but I feel that having some kind of textual information to go with them and explain some of the context would be more respectful of those who had to endure the situation brought on by the eruption.

This museum is part of our jeep tour at Mt. Merapi. Very well organized and clean.

Part of our jeep tour around Mt. Merapi included a stop at this museum. May not be very accessible unless you are riding in an appropriate vehicle. Much of the surrounding roads are rubble.

A haunting expression of the destruction following the 2010 eruption. 2000 people died. When you get here, you can immediately feel the effects that the volcano had on this village.

The museum is free to visit. Many artifacts are left out in the open, and touchable.
Photos cover the walls of the rooms that express the volcanic eruption following the disaster relief.

There are 2 skeletons of cows outside. And a rendering of what the home used to look like.
One room carries a bunch of ash, just out there in the open.

You’ll find a clock that stopped working when the volcano blew. Tons of broken and melted items to see and stop your breath at.

Definitely worth the visit. You can tell that the village does not have much money to keep all these items behind glass. Some precious items like books and teapots are kept in glass cases, but most of the items are subject to weathering.

in this museum there are many items that are silent witnesses of Mount Merapi. such as cow skeletons, wall clocks, melting household utensils, and of course photographs when the volcano erupts. incidentally when I was there when it was getting dark around 5 pm it looked rather creepy. really feels tense. there is no entrance ticket, but there are provided a kind of charity box for tourists so that they can provide voluntary participation funds. really this place must be visited if you are around Merapi.

We could see how big merapi mountain erruption. Although they got wedus gembel (not the lava), the impact was so big for human and the around of kaliurang

A museum where they show case of remaining items whic was destroyed by mt. Merapi erruptions few years ago. Suggestion for the traveller, if you would like visiting this area is much more easy and better when you rent a jeep merapi. Not only this museum but You will be escorted to some other interesting spots in mt. Merapi areas.
