Nice authentic place to try the famous local Babi Guling. Owner is the son of Ibu Oka down the street, which has dropped in quality.
Nice bouillon and meat. I would recommend getting the special, but without blood sausage and with extra meat.
Not sure why people complain about the tourist tax, you are a tourist after all…

Tips : it is the son of famous babi guling ibu Oka. At this present Gung Cung is the most famous for local citizen, but for me the taste is so so. One of the meat contents is pig intestine, but I dont like it. Overall, I still prefer baby guling in Denpasar rather than in Ubud.

Gungcung!!! A hidden gem that you have to try! I love the authenticity of it's baliness spices that seeping through it's white pork meat ???? so good.. and the surrounding view of traditional Bali houses and the calmness that Ubud always provide, is just a hidden gem ????✨

After having breakfast nearby, we order some babi guling or local pork rice for take away cause we will spent most our time in the villa.

We order 4 portion (special). Every babi guling restaurant or shack have their own style, such as the chilli sauce, pork size, veggie and other condiments.

This one got a big chuncks of pork and a different veggie.

Not long the place is full with some local who custimized their order by the price, you could pay just Rp15.000 and you will still git a modest meal.

The restaurant only propose some Babi guling. We took the special plate with a mix a different parts, we enjoyed all.
Food is not so expensive, it is a good Warung to eat

One of the first babi guling we tried in Ubud. We read reviews saying not to bother with Ibu Oka.

Verdict. It's alright.. Compared to Pak Malen (my fav)

Things we didn't like:
-shredded meat was not as succulent, a bit on the tough side
-vege is a bit dry u0026 not flavourful enough
-rice was dry and the soup was just... sad to say, shouldn't be served, was so diluted

But the one redeeming factor was the skin was not bad and their fried pork belly bits were great! That is the only thing better than the gold standard that is Pak Malen
