A butterfly in the making… it’s clear this hotel, like so many, has been hit hard by covid. Rooms are a bit tired, facilities a bit worn and sales pitches inaccurate. (ie currently no playground, nor kids club, nor poolside bar with alcoholic beverages… aspects that sold it to me online) It does have a certain charm and the gardens are very pretty and tropical. The banquet dinners and dances at night were lovely, although cocktails would have made them even lovelier. There’s lots of construction work going on just outside the hotel so it was a bit noisy during the day and pool aerobics Wham music not exactly relaxing.
Our executive king suite was most disappointing on arrival, as was the furthest from the pools and restaurant, faced a construction wall and the ‘balcony’ barely fit 2 chairs. However, the staff were very accommodating in my request for a better view and room. We ended up in a deluxe room overlooking the kid-friendly pool with a big balcony. It was cheaper than the executive and included breakfast!
Overall, it was a very pleasant stay that was slightly marred by the inaccuracies of the web-booking ad, (I’m not sure how a hotel can claim to be ‘out of stock’ of alcohol) but quite good value, friendly staff, and a rather ‘old-school’ Bali vibe in its ambience and decor. I’d recommend it to families with small children but perhaps not romance-seekers nor those seeking a glamorous, modern 5-star experience.
