Arriving there on my birthday, my dinner was situated at a table with the words “Happy Birthday” carefully arranged with grains of rice. The end of it was followed by a group of staff who surprised me with a birthday cake and a song which they so actively participated in singing.
That was only the smallest of services offered there at Club Med. Here’s some more that may convince you that the staff here aren’t ordinary ones you find anywhere.
1. Free flow of food and drinks 24/7
With the exception of a small section of premium fu0026b, everything here is covered.
Want a drink? Just head to the bar to get one!
Whether you’re legal or not, there are an excellent variety of drinks there. My favourite being “I love Bali”. All three meals are buffet style but you can book a few days in advance to have a fine dining setting at a different restaurant (also covered).
2. Non-stop activities throughout the day.
From dawn till dusk, there are professional instructors to guide you in an array of activities. Some include archery, tennis, trapeze, morning “power walk” and the many water sports. Many of these activities would cost a lot if you’d like to them outside of Club Med—it does in Singapore for the least part—but it is all covered here and you shouldn’t have to pay anything extra. However, with all sincerity, the snorkelling here is pretty bad. I’m not sure if it’s because of the high tide or because they really want to play safe, the boat for snorkelling docked really close to shore. The view was really really bad. With all said, I think if you’d planned to come here just to do snorkelling, it wouldn’t have made sense in the first place. Thus, fret not if you plan to have your whole day filled with the activities provided here, because you’re gonna hit the bed real hard, which leads to the next point.
3. Crazy night performances and entertainment.
Every night, there will be an elaborate performance put together by the team of staff here at Club Med. Although the online performance schedule was messed up at the time of my visit, the international and local performances were a wonder to watch. This reminds me of another small point—there are two group of staff working here at Club Med who facilitates the activities: G.Os and G.Ms. Though I’m not sure of the respective order, one of them are made of solely locals and the other are made of foreigners who were posted by the Club Med (the chain) to come to Bali. With this, there are performances put together by the foreigner which showcase the culture of their motherland.
After the performances, the Vice-Village-Chief (not sure of his rank but he’s always following the Chief of Village during he’s patrols) would lead the audience to the bar for a club-setting dance. Funny or cool fact is that all ages are invited to this which lasts for quite a long while; I’m not sure how long it lasts since I usually have to return to my room to let my head hit the bed. (The longest I lasted for was an hour)
I’m not sure if these were enough to sway you into coming to Club Med. It was definitely an interesting experience for me and my family and we’ve never had such hospitality from everyone there (even the other guests). Despite having some cons including close-to-failing house keeping and furniture in the rooms, I think it wouldn’t hurt if you came here for just a few nights—please don’t come here if it’s going to have a big financial implication.
With that, thanks for reading this ????
P.s. my mum really enjoyed the morning yoga here. Also, the scenery here is really cool.
