One of legend place at Yogyakarta. Unfortunately it’s not my liking. Too sweet for me. But it’s okay. Worth trying to taste authentic Jogja cuisine.

I found this restaurant good not least because they serve "brongkos." Brongkos is a meat and beans stew, and specialty of Yogyakarta. Resolution of menu photos are quite low, but brongkos includes a bunch of beans (black-eyed peas or red kidney beans).
They also have decades of mouth-watering sides, so I ordered tempe, to play it safe.

One the best!!! It's a nice dish to start your day and the price is so worthy

Brongkos is a traditional food of Jogja. It is actually rice served with meat cooked in coconut milk with black-eyed peas as the topping. The taste is sweet rather than savoury. With the price around IDR 30K per portion, you will get more than enough. It is tasty and abundant, nice! Notes: this place is more likely fully occupied, esp. during holiday season. Also, it is quite difficult to find a parking lot for cars.

Brongkos is a typical spicy sweet beans and meat stew. Bu Handayani definitely cook the most delicious Brongkos I've ever tried, no, in fact the best stew ever !! (Except my moms cooking). I ordered the complete set one with meat tofu and egg. The broth is very rich, savory sweet not to spicy that balance very well. Fillings are generous, except for the meat. Well the star of Brongkos after all is the broth, and its rich thick delicious until the last drop.
Place is not hygienic, typical warung pinggir jalan style. Price affordable.
Too bad I couldn't take picture because we do take away, as during Fasting Moment, we are not allowed to eat there and they didn't sell white rice to go with brongkos.
Must eat when in Jogja !!!!

It's my first time to taste it, it becomes one of the best Jogja's culinary according to google hahaha, that's why I come here. It's tasty but too sweet for me, because I'm into spicy foods actually, so I ask for some condiment, and it tastes even better. The place is not hard to find, you just have to follow the maps. For the price, it's not that cheap but still ok.
