This stall has served soto ayam (traditional chicken soup) for more than 20 years. The broth is clear and light, perfect for breakfast. You can add salt, sambal, and sweet soy sauce to make its suits your taste. There are also side dishes such as chicken gizzard satays and tempe goreng (deep fried tempeh/soybean cake) to be enjoyed with the soto. Frankly speaking, this is not a fancy place. You have to sit in plastic stools, eating your soto on top of wooden table lined up against wall in a narrow alley. Yes, people, bikes, or even motorcycles will pass behind you while you're enjoying your dishes, but, hey man, this is the real Jogja for me. When you blend with the people around you instead sitting in a fancy air-conditioned room with all those selfie takers ????
Price for a bowl of soto ayam served with rice is IDR 10k, doubled than what I used to eat about 20 years ago, but amazingly it still has the same taste
The side dishes will cost you IDR 2K each, while beverages such as es jeruk (Indonesian style orange juice) and sweet Iced Tea cost you IDR 3K
For others, it might just some roadside stall, but for me, it is memories served in the form of warm bowl of soup.
