If you are looking for traditional fancy restaurant at KotaGede area, you have to visit Sekar Kedhaton Restaurant. The building has ancient and Javanese details here and there.

For the food, I ordered Bakmi Jawa which you can request if you want it to be more spicy. The portion was huge, I think this is because the place is popular with foreign tourist as well.

All in all, the service was also best, definitely recommended especially if you visit with family or partners! :)

Most expensive and probably worst meal that we have had in our 3 weeks in Indonesia. The beef sate was so tough it was inedible. The chicken dish was bland and the portions were small. The setting is beautiful, and of course the service was excellent, however, if you have a choice, I’d encourage you to look elsewhere.

Clean and well set up, truly admirable ambiance and food? Wah! We loved, loved, the traditional Indonesian dishes we tucked into. Menu prior decided, due to us being a in tour. Still, one of the best picks, in regards to the dishes. We loved all of it, and keropok for nibbling before the rest of dishes arriving, almost simultaneously, one after the other. Sambal, fried stuffs, raw salad, stir fried veggies, fried chicken, sweet sour fish, and fresh fruits and buah salak for dessert. Especially for someone like me, who love Indonesian food, this first meal of ours must be stated as the winner.

I suggest you to add this place onto your list of places to visit while you are in Yogyakarta. This restaurant serves traditional Javanese dishes with high taste. A variety of food and drinks are well served by waiters who can also speak English. Certainly, this place is very crowded with travelers, especially foreign tourists. What interests me is the ancient, detailed, Javanese-style building but still looks modern and elegant. And what makes me come to this venue again is the delicious dish.

Sekar Kedhaton is an old colonial house turned restaurant. It gives ethnic and traditional vibe. Staffs were friendly and helpful.

Great food, even though it was a bit pricey. Mostly served Indonesian dishes with some western choices such as omelette and pasta. We loved tumis jantung pisang (easily the best one), sate sapi, and surprisingly good nasi goreng: both nasi goreng seafood and nasi goreng udang bakar.

Luxury resto provides Javanese traditional cuisine and chinese food menu.
This restaurant has classic decoration so that it gives Javanese atmosphere inside.
Waiters serve customers kindly and well.
Menu taste is very delicious.
You can treat your guest or family here.

This restaurant is, I think, one of the best restaurant in Yogyakarta. It has beautiful interior that brings you to the past immediately. The furniture is also looks amazing! I love the food, it presents a lot of delicious recipes from old time Java. I love the taste of the soup, the potato from semur ayam (chicken stew)I can’t eat boiled chicken so I choose the potato and I LOVE IT. You won’t be sorry if you visit this place...
