This hostel was recommended on a German travelling website so we decided to give it a try.
It was best hostel experience I ever had! Fist of all, the place looks even better than the photos. Very colourful, cozy, and stylish. There is so much space provided, especially if you want to hang out with the other guests at the shared rooms. There are two shared bathrooms. I would especially recommend the open-air one, it was nice to take a shower surrounded by trees after a long and hot day.
We got a small room without sink, and it was absolutely enough, if we wanted some space we went to the hammocks.
If you want to grab some food or drinks, you can go a few minutes by foot. Everything you need is close. On our first night we were smart enough to follow Ardys’ (he works at the hostel and is the coolest guy we met in Indonesia so far) recommendation to go to an bar nearby. We met very welcoming locals and listened to live music. Ardy was always available if we had questions, problems or funny stories to share.
Happy Buddha is absolutely the place to be in Yogyakarta, the service is so great you don’t even get concerned about the few ants in the bathroomfloor:)
It’s a hostel with a great personality you feel at home directly!
