Judged on the basis of a luxury 5 star hotel our overall impression was very dissapointing. We were initially taken to a "standard" room in the older section of the hotel on the 7th floor. This room was shabby by 5 star standards, mould on the upper edge of the hand basin under the benchtop, a stain on the duvet cover, two naked nails in the wall of the main room area where pictures had apparently hung, unmatched wall lamp covers above the desk. The desk was bare, no stationary, no pen, nothing. One half roll of toilet paper and no spare in double dispenser.
After some negotiation we were moved to a newer contempory styled room on the second floor. Obviously much newer, cleaner and functional although there is almost no storage space for two adults. There were 4 wall outlets for USB device charging scattered around the room, a great idea, sadly only 2 of them worked.
There is no hotel phone directory, the room phone is not labelled in any way. In room menu is accessed via QR code on a card in the room. My wife rang "0" as we are told to do on the card and she was told she should have rung room service. When my wife informed the person in reception (in Indonesian) that we had no way to tell what number to dial for room service they were confused but put her through. We ordered 2 beef burgers with salad and chips. After we removed the inevitable cling wrap we found that although the burger was good the chips were stone cold.
To sum up this was not the luxury hotel expireince we expected. I believe this hotel is now owned by the Marriot group and it well may be in transition but that's no excuse for shoddy cleaning or dysfunctional fittings.
At a premium price this hotel is simply not worth the money.
