At one corner of the Simpang Lima Semarang, there is a corner that is popular with people craving for traditional food. Apparently, this place is a typical Semarangan culinary tour, Nasi Liwet Ayam Bu Widodo. This dining place looks simple by only using mats that are laid out for dining while on the floor.
In contrast to nasi liwet Solo style, nasi liwet Bu Widodo is served with a yellow vegetable soup with a sweet and savory taste. One portion contains rice, chayote, tofu, spiced eggs, krecek, and shredded chicken.
If you want to add side dishes, there are also various choices of sate jerohan, telur puyuh, sate usus, chicken, and crackers. Because the taste tends to be sweet and savory, it will taste better when eaten with sambal. The sambal is made from boiled cayenne pepper crushed with various spices until soft.
A portion of nasi liwet costs Rp. 12.000, this exclude chicken and other side dishes.
