The ticket was very cheap. The place is a bit dirty but the cleaner was there sweeping the garbage, yet they let the garbage stay in a corner. It's a bit upsetting because Padang is a bit dirty; there's not much trashcan and I saw people just litter everywhere even at the beach.
Anyway, the museum was not bad. Just that the information they put on every object weren't that helpful to understand the history of it. There's not much things to see. Just some skulls, weapons, old tools, and Minangkabau traditional clothes,.. it needs much more attention for such an interesting building.

Entrance fee was 5K. If you like history, this is the place for you! You can learn some Minangkabau history through out the exhibition. Some of the area were under renovation (Jun '21). There is a room called Museum Randang, a dedicated are just for rendang.

This museum is located in the city center of Medan.
Located in s trategic area and easy to reach. There's a gift shop for local dishes of Padang just right in front of this museum.
The architecture of the museum resembles the traditional house of West Sumatera.
Tourist can take photos here if they have no time to go to Pagaruyung castle.
There's a paid local photographer if you want to.
Just right in the center of its front yard, there's a memorial point for west sumatera's hero died years ago for Indonesian independence, so that this place can be learned by students for their historical studies.
The museum open from morning until 4 PM and suitable for families.

Everything about minang, from the beginning of the newspaper before the era of Indonesia's independence, until art and custom Minang tribe are all there. There are earthquake museums and earthquake monument as well. You must come to visit when you in Padang city.

The place is clean and tidy. When I was there, there’s a renovation going on but it’s not disturbing. There’s a separate room for Museum Rendang with a lot of information about Rendang. There’s also park there. Good place! Definitely will come again with our kids.

Nice museum, but it was not very well kept, there was trash on the floor and the information is just way too much, a nice idea is to make the information easier to take in.
