Nice museum to see in Jakarta with really not many people. The place is an historical part of Batavia city.

Pros: good learning experience of indonesian history to world history from naval perspective. Serene and not crowded. Cheap, perhaps too cheap at 5000idr. Good for 2-3hrs relaxed viewing.
Cons: under maintained and under developed. More could n should be done to preserve and improve.

Went there with with friends, it's clean and informative enough. Dont forget to go to menara syahbandar right in the front of this museum, it's one ticket entrance (included in museum bahari entrance ticket)

Silent eye witness building of dutch colonial era back to 16th century when ships sailed and anchored at Sunda Kalapa. Syahbandar tower as traffic controller harbor as part of Museum Bahari in present day would give us nice aerial view portrait around the past activity harbor. In recent research there is measurement as zero meridien sailing point in Batavia, nederland east indies.

This is the place where dutch used to stored their prized spices from Indonesia. The building and plaza is well maintained. But the items grouping at the second floor could be better. Uneccessary exhibits could be taken out. And the diorama room is a joke. Could be improved to show people the historic timeline.
