Room is comfortable enough and the bathroom is clean and comfortable. Bar soap and towel are provided. TV is in the room. For an affordable/cheap guesthouse, everything is quite nice. Located in the middle of Medan, Grab is very easy to get and almost anything is quite near.

well. It was ok at the beginning. Really nice restaurant with solide food. Rooms ok for Medan in price and quality, but there are better options in Medan, too. Biggest problem with room was the strong smell. And my AC I paid extra for was not working well.
No need for bad review, but in the end they started fighting us. We wanted to check out in evening 10pm and asked them if it's ok to pay half price for this. They confirmed.
But when we wanted to check out at 8pm (early) they wanted full day price for both our rooms. They told us that in Indonesia the evening is at 5pm, so we should have checked out at 5pm. When we told them that our deal was 10pm and not 5pm, they started to shout and became aggressive.
We dont know if it was mis-communication or if they wanted to cheat us. If they would have told us before, we would have kept only 1 room. Whatever, in tourist business you need to be more friendly and cannot fight guests.
We paid everything they asked for. Still they called us later, when we were far away, that still some items are missing. They wanted us to pay for beer we already paid for.
Whatever. It's not great, but ok guesthouse. But if you make special agreement with them, better make a document on paper ;)

I only had a “burger” and beer here, so I can only comment on the food and service.
First, the so-called beef burger was nothing more than some strange meat paste on two slices of white bread. It looks nothing like the picture that I saw on google images for this restaurant. It supposedly comes with the normal toppings that a burger would have. The guy asked me what I wanted on my burger and I told him the standard fare: lettuce, tomato cheese, mayonnaise and catchup. The price is listed at 50,000, but when I got the bill they charge me 64,000 and he said that The owner said it was because I got “extra toppings“.My friend got some chicken curry and that looked much better. The beers are very cold which is a plus.

The House of Las Vegas is a warm, welcoming, and amenity laden home stay with a gracious host. The rooms offer everything you need and the WiFi is wicked fast. A sitting area in the front of the building provides space for relaxation and community, too. I’m looking forward to staying again.

120,000 small double with bathroom.
150,000 for same room with A/C.
Feb 2016 it was hot. One v small window without mosquito netting. Floor standing fan was ok but not great.
Bathroom v small but ok. Cold water. Smelled mouldy. No window.
Wifi in restaurant area was fine. On first floor it was v patchy.
Beer is 40,000

Residence hotel behind has rooms for 70,000 which are a bit less appealing.

Despite being number 1 budget recommendation in Lonely Planet I would not recommend staying here. It's rundown and dirty. I saw couple of cockroaches, water was not working. Did not have a problem with the service tho. I only stayed here one night but there just must be a better option in Medan...

Terrible dirty room, worst night sleep I've had in Indonesia the bed is so hard and uncomfortable. They have us 1 towel between two people and a rough towel like sheet that didn't even cover both of us. The food also gave us both an upset stomach the next day.
