Seeing as we were in Bali, we thought we’d give the temple a go and push ourselves into some “local” culture - this place is suited for tourists as you will have people coming up trying to sell you Sarong’s (make sure you buy one locally first as I can imagine them being a bit pricey here)

The temple grounds are quite big, if guides offer to show you around you can accept, just be prepared to pay them for their time and knowledge - you can just go around by yourself taking it all in, make sure you go into the cave to see the three statues inside.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained.

Nice place, provides sarong in ticket so no need to buy tickeds 50k approx aud$5 each

It's a must when in Ubud. I recommend to look for Mang Nik and ask her for a guided tour to the waterfall through the forest, great experience and she is super nice and kind.

Nothing special to see here especially taking the comparatively high entrance fee into consideration. The most exciting thing is the elephant cave which you finish in a few minutes.

Negative is that everyone is actively trying to scam you.

Be aware when you drive on the parking place that you do not need to park in front of the stores (the shop owners will literally come running to you and tell you to park in front of their shop). You can drive further to the entrance and park there. The shop owners do this to sell (scam) you into buying a rag to cover your legs as it is mandatory to wear one inside the temple. But they don't tell you, and when confronted lie, that the temple provides them for free. The biggest problem with this however is that the guys responsible for the parking are in on the scam as they also tell you to buy one..

Locals prey on tourists here. Sarong sellers will ambush you as soon as car door open. Your driver is likely complicit as ours was, not mentioning that sarong is free at temple entrance. They will use urgency scam to get you to buy sarong at 10x normal price. Sarong is free to borrow and included in ticket price for most temples including this one. Anyone that follows you is expecting tip. Most if not all surviving Balinese historical structure is used to extract as much money from tourist as possible. It definitely leaves you with a sour feeling and a target on your back.

Nice temple. Do not buy the Shari in the shops as they will give you one for free in the entrance.

A hidden gem, 11th century temple and rest of Buddhist statues. Beautiful area, peaceful and simple temple.
