My wife and I went on a morning bike tour with this company. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour which was comprehensive and extremely informative featuring information regarding daily life in Bali, religion and many other subjects. Our guide, Ketut, was friendly, considerate and well trained in his role.
HOWEVER, the bikes were some of the most uncomfortable we've ever ridden in our entire lives. Being Australian we've both been riding a bike of some sort since we were very young. The saddles on these bikes were so hard that both myself and my wife have very sore 'undercarriages' today. In fact my poor darling wife had to stop after only 5 minutes of riding due to the pain she was suffering in her sitting area. Our lovely guide, Ketut, immediately swapped the saddle on his bike for hers and explained that a delivery of new saddles was waiting to be collected from Denpasar. The other issue we had was the quality of the hand grips on our bikes. The rubber was extremely hard and as a result both myself and my wife have tender sore spots on our hands the day after our tour. I think this is a result of the bikes being set up for people shorter than ourselves. I am average height at 185cm or 6 feet and my wife is 175cm or 5 foot 10 inches. The way the handle bars on our bikes were set resulted in a riding position that meant we were leaning forward for the whole tour and a lot of our body weight was pressing our palms into the hand grips which resulted in the soreness we experienced and continue to experience. If the tour operator had taken a few minutes to set up our bikes to match our bodies this could have been avoided.
Lastly, I think the bikes could receive just a little more preventative maintenance as the chains and gearing looked as though they hadn't seen oil or grease in a while and the brakes on both bikes squealed each time they were used which in the hilly surrounds of Ubud is quite often. Also, I think the brakes needed adjusting as to get any response from them required squeezing the handles almost completely in.
So in essence, the tour itself and the guide were both excellent but the bikes left a bit to be desired with their comfort level affecting our enjoyment of the tour.
