Idk whatsup with the bad reviews. BUT This hostel is so nice! Rooms were clean! Private lockers, I stayed in the bigger dorm room beds and WOW! Comfy as hell. I slept like a baby. Shower and toilets are actually good! It just looks run down, but honestly, it's clean, pressure is good, warm water. Other guests just need to clean up after themselves when using the toilets, staff can't just go in there clean every 10 minutes. *-_- Only reason why the showers/toilets aren't clean, because of inconsiderate guests. But staff clean it every morning.
Pros:
1. Not a party hostel, just a relaxed one.
2. Bigger dorm beds option in a bigger room. (Opt for that option)
3. Staff is kind! Tirah makasi!
4. They offer moto rentals (little pricey compared to other places though)
5. CLEAN!
Cons:
1. You'll hear occasional motos drive by the street outside (if staying in the bigger dorm rooms) [just wear earplugs]

Good value for money ???? bed is really comfy, there's communal kitchen too if you wanna cook instant ramen. I give it two stars bcs i kinda uncomfy with one of the staff who were in the same room w me. She's sush-ing me and my friend when we're chit chating, then proceed to make a lot of noise until late at night and it irritates me bcs i can't sleep at all T.T
I get it, that's the risk of choosing dorm room. But at least give your staff different room. Tq ????

I’ve stayed at more than a handful of hostels and homestays while in Bali. ALA hostel is my best experience. Here’s why:
Friendly staff
Good breakfast
Very clean facilities
Free drinking water
Free toiletries
I liked it so much I extended my stay there.

I spent just one night there (17. Sep. 19) but had the worst experience ever! When I first arrived I've got sent into the room. It is a small room filled with bunk beds. It's clean (the bathroom is not) but the smell was really harsh.
Why do I give one star? I went out partying that night. Unlucky me got robbed, they stole my phone and ran over my feet. When I made my way back to the hostel the receptionist was sleeping. I got him to wake up and asked him if he can call the police and ambulance. Apparently, he didn't know the number. Silence. I was almost not able to walk and got into a heated argument of how I was able to get to the hospital. If I would have been really in danger I might have lost my life (just imagine I cut myself or burned hard). After 2! HOURS, they finally told me they'll drive me to the police. But wait...
When we got to the "police" it was just a man in a "uniform" that asked me what I've got in my pocket. I had to hand over my wallet and he checked it (pretty sure for money). They kept talking in Indonesian and he was really pushy. Luckily I never have much cash on me but before he could check my other pocket I just left those guys. I'm 100% sure that this person was not a policeman but a friend or something.
When I got back to the hostel, they still couldn't tell me the number of the Hospital so I planned on going there myself with my rental scooter. Luckily one other traveler offered help finding the place and guided me on the trip.
When I asked the hostel to leave my things in the room until I'm back they told me "sorry but you have to check out at 11 am, we will store your belongings here" Needless to say I was fuming and packed my bags as fast as possible before heading to the hospital.
Now almost 5 hours after the first talk with the receptionist I was able to make the way to the hospital.
When I was finished and got back to the Hostel with a broken foot in a cast and crutches, they didn't even say goodbye or offered any kind of apology. I had to find a new place on the spot (pretty sure they would have taken me in if I would have paid).
So if you just need a place to crash and don't worry about your belongings, go ahead. Otherwise, I highly recommend choosing a different place!
