AMAZING cocktail spot! I always lament not being able to find good craft cocktails outside the US but this certainly delivers and beats expectations.

Many ingredients (various infused araks) here are homemade and also indigenous like the curcuma powder.

I really liked the Temu-Lawak and 51B but the Negroni is also quite nice. The bartender was very conversational the whole time and walked us through the thought processes behind the creations of the cocktails.

Fantastic bar where they teach you how to make your own cocktails. They show you the basics and you choose a cocktail from the menu and they let you mix it. The Tama Tama was really tasty and most cocktails use local fruits. The bar tender was awesome - we asked him heaps of questions about drinks and cocktails. He also let us sample some drinks and fruits. It was pretty quiet when we got there which was great.

Quite enjoyed my akademi negroni (accompanied by some light reading from a book about the drink), as well as some casual conversation with the bartenders about music in Indonesia.

My second drink was also aces (swapped out some tequila for a healthy dose from surprisingly healthy selection of mezcals)

Nice concept bar with great selection of original drinks. The bartenders were super friendly and educational. Not expensive at all and the venue has a modern design. Interesting ingredients in the drinks and it was fun to try several.

WOW! I so glad we made the walk to find this place. I’m from Seattle and I really enjoy some good craft cocktails and Akademi Bar was spot on. They use homemade bitters, also have some homemade Negroni, Manhattan, that they premix in a oak barrel and let sit for 30 days. The Manhattan was very good and strong. I also tried the cocktail call Taboo which was very close to an old fashion which are my favorite. The service was amazing and the bartender was so good at explaining the drinks and also very good conversation with him. If you are looking for some very good craft cocktails for a great price (expensive for the area but cheap for what you are getting. These drinks are easy $20 Usd+ in Seattle, USA) They accept credit card with no extras fees.

Definitely not your average Seminyak cocktail bar. Uses locally sources ingredients and led by a wonderful, friendly team :) Cocktail making lessons were an absolute delight.
