This mall is huge......... but devoid of active shops.
i walked in and other than the Hypermart grocery stores, i counted theres is less than 10 patrons in the entire mall!
but i am giving it 5Stars out of respect and not pity for her glorious pasts..... pls read on.????
I ventured into this Mall in hope of finding some food in their foodcourt (3rd floor).
upon entering i already noticed major distress on the appearance of the mall.... cracked walls and walk ways, peeling paints and overgrown grass and trees.... i wont even be shocked if a T-rex strolled out of the entrance.... they do have big entrances tho????.
once inside, the scene turns grimmer, closed shops every where..... its 3pm on a Wednesday, normal date, no special holidays.... hence the only thing that lit the corridors and pathways are the mall's main spot lights....
strangely i dont feel at all creeped out or scared....it looked like an abandoned building but felt like a comfortable lobby of a huge old apartment, i think its because the malls security and staffs gave me that confident feel that they are ready to help whenever i need them to☺.... everyone is full of smiles and knods whenever i made eye contact.
i walked up to the second floor, discovered the food court is on the third but my brain told my tummy it better off drive home to eat.
i turned around and into an alley surrounded yet my many more closed shops trying to find my way down and out of the building when i stumble across a shop filled with my most favorite items....diecasts!
and Lord behold the lights in shop is ON!....to be honest, i wasnt expecting much from this hobby shop. i mean the mall is empty and would probably bored even the zombies....
but Lord behold i can believe my eyes, most hobby shops will stock like limited model varieties but lots of repeated inventories because of bulk ordering.... THIS one will display one model and that will be the only model in its entire inventory!...so the more i look throught their collections the bigger my eyes gets......
the owner, Pak Chandra, what a lovely guy, extremely polite and sincere..... that kinda guy i would hang out at coffee shops and talk about pretty much anything.
he told me about the Mall's busy past and beautiful memories he had with his wife. But eversince the bigger newer Mall opened across the street (by the same company i assumed), this one slowly gets forgotten ????....
i am no genius or brilliant businessman.... but wont it be mutually beneficial if both malls work together..... like build a stunning sky or underground bridge connecting them two... like most buildings in Singapore.... organize a food bazaar, encourage the low income to become entrepreneurs, dont charge operators rent or utilities or maintenance but strictly from a small percentage profit sharing scheme etc?....
This place is a sleeping dragon..... it needs to be poked...... hard!
and for this i am giving this Mall a full 5 Stars for its potential.
