The shio ramen is very tasty but the aburs soba is rather bland. My recommendation is simply to buy regular ramen rather than the dry one.

Several Japanese ramen franchises have entered Indonesia now. Ippudo (a large ramen chain originating from Fukuoka) is well-established in Jakarta. Hakata Ikkousha (originally a quite famous store in Fukuoka) can be found in several cities in Indonesia. There are many other restaurants in Indonesia that purport to serve tonkotsu ramen. However, the vast majority of those restaurants are not worth your money, serve dishes that are vastly different from the ones that you would find in Japan, and generally are subpar representations of ramen (especially tonkotsu ramen).

Menya Sakura, which hails from Nagoya, has been expanding aggressively in Indonesia, and when I learned that there is a store in Solo, I was curious to try it out.

Fortunately, Menya Sakura at Solo Paragon does a respectable job of bringing something close to tonkotsu ramen. It does a much better job than, say, Hakata Ikkousha Indonesia, which serves ramen that cannot be characterized as Hakata-style ramen. The tonkotsu broth at Menya Sakura is better than the majority of tonkotsu broth I've tried in Indonesia, and I preferred it over the broth at Ippudo Indonesia.

The chicken broth (tori shio) was decent as well, although not particularly stunning, although the pork chashu needs improvement. I would say that paying extra for a chasumen here is a waste of money.

Menya Sakura is on the pricey side for an eatery in Solo. But given the dearth of decent ramen outlets in Solo and Yogyakarta regions, Menya Sakura might be worth a shot for those craving something that at least has the semblance of a proper ramen.

Great Taste, Fast and Polite Service, and Most Importantly Reasonably Priced.

Pro tip : ask for membership card, you can get free food every 500k you spent.

This place is still be my favorite ramen restaurant in Surakarta so far. What you will get is a bowl of savory, warm, and tasty ramen. The ramen noodle is soft yet not mushy, the soup is quite thick balanced with the yummy seasonings. The pork meat is great. Overall, it is worth the price.

One of the few tonkatsu ramen places in Solo, Menya Sakura in Paragon Mall has outstanding service. A simple dining area with wooden furnished furniture, this place will remind you of a Japanese style diner, though the food is rather bland in comparison.

The char-su tonkatsu meat were quite hard, the noodle is fine, and the soup was quite bland, but it’s a good thing the grilled char-su and the pork gyoza saved the day. They mixed well with the warm broth.
