Very nice little neighborhood, very friendly and smiling people and lots of nice corners and alleyways to take a photo of. There is even a small cafe and bookshop there, unfortunately it opens only in the evening. Otherwise you need maybe 1 hour to cover it. Warning - get ready for heavy sun on a sunny day, streets are not covered and shade it's not easy to find ????

A tourist destination for those who would like to study how does one turns slum into a self sufficient area. A lot part of Indonesia used to be like this but the leader did good in their change management, adopting anything that 60 percent that is approved by the community. They also recycled a lot of things including water and garbage. Probably nothing you have never seen but they have been consistently doing it. Another interesting thing is how the various diverse people here manage to be cohesive, of sort. Is a short 2.5 hours but reminds me that humanity still can prosper bit only when they want to change, and consistently reminding each other.

It is a very good place to go with tourist because the villagers are very welcome and happy to introduce their village. The welcoming process is quite interesting and everyone enjoy the visit. You can try some foodu0026beverages from this village, like aloe vera stick, dsb. Other than that it also have historical stories on each monument.

The number of urban village is getting less and less especially in the big cities. And most of the time, people’s mindset usually relates Kampoeng to slum area. However, Kampoeng Maspati tries to change that mindset. This Kampoeng is very clean, so green and the people there are very active to sell their homemade products to generate their Kampoeng’s local economy.
You have to visit this place if you are travelling to Surabaya.
There is a homestay too. The house was built in 1907. this costs about 250.000IDR/night.
Too book the house, you need to contact the head of the community in Kampung Maspati.

It was awesome! The Kampoeng is clean and beautiful. There are mural on the street and wall. What i love the most is so many plants that makes the kampoeng look green. The people is still keep the unique culture. Even sometime they shows the tradition when they have special guest visiting the Kampoeng. If you come to Surabaya, dont forget to visit Kampoeng Lawas Maspati.

Colorful kampung (small village) in the middle of Surabaya, near Heroes Monument, you can walk from there in less than 10 minutes. It's like entering different world since in here, everything seems at peace and relaxing. Must visit when in Surabaya.

A must visit visit place in surabaya, historic landscape with house build in 1907 by the dutch. Community based tourism, very wellcome peoples.
