I feel sad having to write this, at the beginning I was happy there was at least 1 LGBT friendly place in Jakarta, but it makes me sad how much they want to take advantage of selling their alcohol (this was on a Saturday):
First of all, the alcohol prices are too high: 200,000 for a beer is double of what I would pay at home in Amsterdam, or is 2-3 times higher of what you pay on a fancy rooftop in Jakarta (like Skye). Bottles go for 2 million for the cheapest to 4 million for a good type of alcohol. Also a multiple of what I would pay in most of the European clubs (which club sells bottles at 240 euros nowadays??).
Secondly- and the most shockingly- when I decided, Ok I will have a good night- and order one of the cheaper bottles (Absolut vodka for 2 million), I saw the typical seal had been opened, nor did the bottle make the “click” when opening it. I tried the alcohol and it was super watered down! I asked for another bottle with the seal still on it, which they brought, but then noticed it had also been opened before and the seal was glued back on it!
Summary: any club can ask prices they want to some extent, ok, but watering down your booze is just so deceitful, you cannot do that to your people, especially in the only LGBT club in town. When I asked to talk to the manager about this, she said “if you don’t like it you can leave”, which is what I did instantly.
So beware - the club was quite ok, nothing fancy at all in fact- but if you plan on coming maybe just show up drunk already or consider alternatives.
