May Star is a restaurant chain specializing in Chinese cuisine, and while it is ubiquitous in Jakarta, the Rich Hotel location (the restaurant relocated from the Jogja City Mall to the ground floor of the hotel) is the only outlet in Jogja. It also happens to be one of the few good Chinese restaurants in Jogja that serves pork (they have two menus, one that shows items with pork and one that doesn't. Ask for the menu with pork if you don't see any pork dishes on the menu they give you). Tung po pork was good, although not as flavourful as I was hoping--still, I'm glad I could get it in Jogja. Rice (choose between steamed or hainan) served with assorted duck and pork is an excellent value, at Rp.69000. The roast duck is great, so is the pork barbeque. As far as I know, they serve the best Chinese-style pork and duck roast in town. There was a 50% discount on all dim sum dishes during the day when I visited, making it quite affordable as well. Around Rp.16000 for a serving (4 pcs) of hakau. The dim sum tastes better than any other Chinese restaurants in town, and with the discount, it was also the best value. I've visited twice, and both times, it was very satisfying. I plan to visit again in the near future to try the sapo tofu...
