One of the best universities in Indonesia.

As a foreigner, I knew UGM because it is the alma mater of President Jokowi, who is greatly beloved by we people from China.

I visited the university in Feb 2020, looking for bahasa courses for international students.

The area of the campus is large, with complete facilities.

The teaching staff and the students I happened to meet could speak fluent English.

The most prestigious university in Yogyakarta also Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada. You don't need to have the special QR code to entered this place while restrictions on community activities (PPKM). Although there are no lectures or other mass activities now here because pandemic, you can doing some activities like jogging or bicycle with not too many people.

A pride of Yogyakarta Special Region, it's one of Indonesia's best-ranking universities at ASEAN level. The main campus used to have popular places for its students, staf and the public like SGPC pecel rice shop and the UGM Valley, but now it's a restricted area.

I think it is one of the best university in Indonesia. I like visiting this university because they provided an easy access road, many green area, big meeting hall, library and the mosque. I'm still amazed with their consistency in conducting every 'kajian' in their mosque. Make our mind fresh again ????

The UGM main building is called the Balairung (rectorate building), in Sleman. Nearby is the Graha Sabha Pramana, a large building utilized for graduation ceremonies, with an adjoining square used for sport and recreation. There is also a university library and a sports center, consisting of a stadium, tennis court, and basketball field.

Gadjah Mada University is one of the oldest and largest institutions of higher education in the country. It has been credited as one of the most prestigious universities in Indonesia, along with the Bandung Institute of Technology and the University of Indonesia.

When the university was established in the 1940s under Dutch rule, it was the first medicine faculty freely open to native Indonesians, at a time when native education was often restricted.

During its initial years of Dutch resistance, the university taught literature and law in the buildings and other facilities belonging to the palace of Sultan Hamengkubuwono IX, who volunteered his palace for the university’s use. UGM gradually established a campus of its own in Bulaksumur, on the northern side of Yogyakarta, and now occupies an area of three square kilometres.

Comprising 18 faculties and 27 research centers, UGM offers 68 undergraduate, 23 diploma, 104 master and specialist, and 43 doctorate study programs. The university has enrolled approximately 55,000 students, 1,187 foreign students, and has 2,500 faculty members. UGM maintains a campus of 882 acres (357 ha), with facilities that include a stadium and a fitness center.

The university is named after Gajah Mada, a 14th century leader of the Indianized Majapahit Empire of Java, considered by some historians to be the nation’s first unifier; the university’s name still reflects the old Dutch-era spelling.

The seventh and current President of Indonesia, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, earned his degree in forestry at UGM.

Took my nursing degree here many years back in 1999.A large campus with good environment. Most faculties have highly motivated teaching teams.

I have studied here for my undergraduate (S-1) and graduate (S-2) programs. One of the best universities in Indonesia, even in the world. All the lecturers, academic staffs, the atmosphere of the campus, and its facilities strongly support the learning process of students.
