Authentic Heritage Food of Central Java, Semarang City. called Mangut means Smoked and Cooked with very hot and spicy gravy.

Sea Catfish (Ikan Manyung) and Eel are best dishes here, they were smoked than cooked with lots of chilli, the smokey taste is very strong makes an lovely after taste. they also served other comfort food

this place is always crowded and you have to wait to be served

4 stars due to hot place and flies, but the Taste is the must try dish for food traveller

I rarely find restaurant serving smoked eels and fish. So, despite located slightly far from downtown Semarang, I went to this restaurant, And boy, what a treat! I tried almost everything from the squid with ink dish to the smoked eel, and they all tasted so delicious I ate like I hadn't seen food for days. But the star is definitely the manyung, the fish head. The combination of the smokey taste and the spice enveloping the meaty fish head blend so perfectly I could eat it all the time. But mind you, it's not for the weak stomach because it's so effing hot!

Traditional Restaurant, we call warung makan. Recommended for your Lunch, mostly all food are spicy.

The taste is pretty good. I tried mangut and it suits my taste. If you don't like spicy food, I suggested you try another menu. They sell a lot of dish variants, like kepala manyung, pepes, eel fritters, etc.

It's a typical Indonesian style stall, where you can choose whatever dish is available and pay for what you take. this stall are very famous among students and workers around the area. very affordable prices and the quality and taste is quite good. smoked eel is the recommended menu here

I'm not a fan of any kind of cooked fish with soup, but this one is an exceptional! The smokey eel cooked perfectly with a spicy soup, the composition is a perfect party for your tastebud. But careful for you who can't eat spicy, this one is a real deal. But worry not! They have tons of other menus, they also have sweeter menu and another famous menu, it's a kind of cooked giant fish head. I'm not recommending you to come here but I INSIST for you all to come here if you ever set foot in Semarang!

Eel is rare dish in Java although many people love to eat them.
The restaurant served eel in savory and hot sauce.
They also have many kind of fish, beef, chicken, tahu, tempe, vegetables etc in many ways of javanese traditional cooking.
The food is placed on a big bowls on a big long table, and the customer just point the food and they will serve it on a plate/bowl.
We can dine in in several long tables and sit together with other customers.
Or you just can dine out and they will pack the food on a paper or plastic container.
They don't have air conditioning so the wind will be much needed to cool down the room heat and also to rise your appetite!
The have car parking spaces but not plenty.
Rexommended for they who had strong stomach and love hot meals and also long for traditional cuisine.
