A nice place to stay with very affordable price.
Suitable for backpackers especially if spend most of your time outside anf you only need a place to stay for sleeping and taking shower.

The place is clean and neat. But don't expect sunlight going through your room because the place is quite compact.

It is situated in a strategic location at the heart of Medan. You can go around with public transportation or online service transport.

The owner and their staffs are nice and friendly.

I arrived here at 2 a.m. via Grab and really needed a place to stay. the gate was locked so I rang the bell and the owner came out and said the rooms were full. I told him I would settle for sleeping on the couch and he said that was fine and let me in. The couch was actually really comfortable and the next morning we talked for a couple hours and he even got me a ride to Lake Toba directly from his hostel which was nice. AWESOME PLACE!!!! AWESOME GUY

The rooms are small and dirty. We got a private bedroom which consisted of a bunk bed. The fan was pointed at the lower bed so I was super hot all night. The walls don't touch the ceiling, so not only you can hear everyone else (and there's a lot of rooms) but you can also see your neighbors...
The bathroom is disgusting, the sink is full of hair and toothpaste and the WiFi is terrible (we couldn't order a gojek).
I'm sure there's a lot of other places in Medan that are better!
But the owner is nice!

I stayed here two nights. It has a good WiFi, a kitchen and a nice terrace. The owner was the best. He was really nice and gave me a lot of information to keep on with the trip. He can speak Spanish and his English is fluent. Definitely a great place to stop in Medan.

Good and budget accomodation. Great host, can give all kinds of information, organize transport for the main touristic place in Sumatra. Room simple, with shared bathroom, you can reserve directly contacting host, bypassing the booking site, and price will go down.

Mr Yauw was an excellent host, he goes above and beyond to help all his guests. He walked me to a restaurant to help me order vegetarian food, and during a "taxi fight" he went way out of his way to organize a cheap taxi to the airport that would carry my surf board. The hostel is conveniently located and has great wifi. The rooms are basic but they have everything you need and are surprisingly quiet. I'll definitely stay at Dazhong when I go back through Medan.
