Kios Asia Timur is a modest nyuk nyang (pork meatball) restaurant without air conditioner with a large space. The place is quite crowded with people coming to dine in or drivers to pick up for the delivery order.

A portion of nyuk nyang consists of 10 pork meatballs. We could also order half portion just like what I did. Half portion of nyuk nyang (IDR 17,500) consists of five pork meatballs both of the soft one and the rough one in a clear broth with green onions. Serve it with lime, chilli sauce (if you like spicy), and buras (if you want carbo).

The best NON Halal Nyukyang in Makassar.
In front of the restaurant's door there is Somay Matius also "NON Halal" and it taste so delicious to me..????.

I love this food since I was so young with secondary uniform and I was one of his regular customers.

The thick spice sauce and sweet soy made a very good combination for this pork somay.
This local food almost rare to find recently and only Matius still exists.
But he is getting old and he said none of his generation or relatives want to continue make and sell this local food.

So..You MUST try this when you in Makassar before it's gone..????

Senior citizen in Makassar would recognize this place as 1 of the most legendary pork local culinary spots this city has ever had. With its specialty in nyuknyang babi (pork meatballs) with Idr 35k/portion, burasa as Idr 3500 / pack (white rice soaked and boiled in coconut milk wrapped in banana leaves which I found irresistable even with only a bowl of soup to have with), it keeps people coming back to taste not only the menu but also to reminisce in a modest room dominated with vintage furniture which I also believe this keeps family sticks together. The staff are senior ones who always deliver fast service with kindness. I even recognized few of them who have been working there since I was in elementary school. One thing needs to improve is parking lot. No ideal parking in this place so people would park at either side of this one-way street with a random parking guy who appeared at car side only when we were already in the car and about to leave this place.

sorry to say it, but the quality of their food decrease comparing it when we bought it last year. Their pork meat balls somehow didn't taste as good as old time

I know this kios (restaurant) since I'm 6 years old and 29 years latter it's maintaining the same great taste. What I feel and taste remaining the same this day. So many new Chinese restaurant open but this is still one of the best.
