Muntilan, Jawa Tengah is also known as Bethlehem van Java. Muntilan had a long journey of the spiritual people since the Dutch colonization. Some Fathers or Priests built the district to develop education in the land of Java and the one of the Priests who also concern about education was Father F. Van Lith, SJ.

In this cemetery, you can find Father Van Lith's burial and other Priests who once spread their works to the local people. It was great place to pray and reflect. It was nice to come back here and pray.

Originally kerkhov was a special grave for Muntilan Jesuit Catholic Priests, Priests or Jesuit Catholic Priests (SJ). For some reason, some non-Jesuit clergy are also buried there. One of them is Father Richardus Kardis Sandjaja Pr or also known as Romo Sanjaya.

Romo Sanjaya was born on May 20, 1914. He is a pastor (pastor of the people) who is also a seminary lecturer. He was ordained a priest and took the vows of the priesthood on January 13, 1943. He is also known as the pastor of the Semarang Archdiocese.

Father Sandjaja was killed on 20 December 1948 in Kembaran hamlet near Muntilan, during the attack of Dutch troops on Semarang which continued on to Yogyakarta during the Second Dutch Military Aggression.
Although his service as a pastor was short, namely five years and finally he died, his example of holy life has inspired many Magelang Catholics and the people of Central Java around him.
Kerkhov in Muntilan is still one of the spiritual destinations and places of pilgrimage for Catholics, usually visitors will go on a pilgrimage in May and October every year.

Kerkhov di Muntilan sampai saat ini masih menjadi salah satu destinasi rohani dan tempat ziarah umat Katolik, biasanya para pengunjung akan berziarah pada bulan Mei dan Oktober di setiap tahunnya.
