Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory is one of the buildings that is quite popular in Indonesia, especially when entering the pilgrimage season. The reason is, as the name implies, the building which is located at Jalan Pondok Gede, RT 1 RW 1, Pinang Ranti, Makassar, East Jakarta is usually used as a stopover for prospective pilgrims before leaving for the Holy Land of Mecca.

Apart from being a place for pilgrims to stop by, the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory is now also a new destination for recreation or spiritual tourism. This hostel has a special advantage, which is that it has a miniature of the Kaaba. Tools or facilities for the hajj procession, such as jumrah throwing and imitation of the two Bukit Marwa and Safa, are also available in this hostel.

Therefore, it is not surprising that many event organizers (EOs) and travel agents use the facilities at the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory to open activities or training for Hajj rituals in this place. Usually, the Hajj ritual training in this hostel is attended by PAUD and kindergarten children.

Not only for spiritual activities, the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory can also be rented for other activities, such as weddings. With the modern exterior and interior design of the building, the building area which is sufficient to accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 people, as well as other complete facilities, make Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory an attractive alternative for those looking for a building for a wedding reception.

To accommodate visitors from outside the region, the Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory has also provided around 10 lodging buildings with a capacity of more than 2,000 people.

I went here for my 6 yo daughter's hajj manasik. Quiet surprise that they forbid parents or any chaperone to go inside the premises. So we had to wait 'outside' basically in the parking lot, where buses, cars, street vendors all together in the muddy area and direct sunlight. No proper waiting area. So you either 'forced' to sit on the dirt (no worries, they sell the tikar) or on one of the food stall.. but off course, you need to buy the food as well for 20k the least. So yeah bring your own snack and get the tikar and you can have a lil 'picnic' there.
For me, if I'd known better, I'd rather stay at home coz I had a major headache when I get home.

This place for sure will be visited by all pilgrims around Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Banten and Bekasi for transit before departure to Medina/Mecca. Huge and have spacious place to transit, quite comfort (even compared to Medina - in term of its facilities), such a big mosque and facilities to practice of manasik / umroh or haj rituals. Normally during haj, the room can be shared for 3-6 persons but still ok since the size of the room was quite big. The food during stay there also ok and staff quite warm and friendly. Nice.

Good, wide, big, huge, gigantic, place. For preparation hajj activities. Kids and olds can all join. Big mosque, quality place. Best embarkation in Pondok Gede. Can ask the owner for further information. The road is asphalt. The rooms are extravagant. Overall best. 9/10

All these four stars is for the employee. They are si friendly and absolutely kind, i cant imagine how tiring to take care thounsands of people everyday when hajj season but they are still smiling.
The parking lot is very bad. It will make your car dusty in 15 minutes.

Decent staying place with decent interior bedrooms, But at least it is comfortable enough, and they have their own air conditioner in every rooms. FYI, I stayed on tower E for temporary. The overall outside area is spacious enough.

Stay 1 night before our departure to Jeddah for Hajj season. Need more attention for room and the bathroom cleaness. Room okay for 4 people had enough space. However even it is just only for short transit it would be ver nice to leaves a good memory for all of Hajj candidates.
