This monument was built on an area of u200bu200b14.6 hectares, at the initiative of the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharto. Built to remember the struggle of the Revolutionary Heroes who fought to defend the state ideology of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila from the threat of communist ideology. This monument is located in Lubang Buaya Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta. To the south is the headquarters of the Indonesian National Army, Cilangkap, to the north is Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, while to the east is Pasar Pondok Gede, and to the west is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. Before becoming a historical museum, this place was an empty land or garden that served as the final dumping ground for the victims of the 30 September 1965 Movement (G30S).
