Samudra Ujung beach is not convenient, rarely suitable for swimming, and much less popular with locals and foreign tourists than other Bengkulu beaches. If you’re the kind of person who really likes crowded and popular lively beaches, then this beach is not the right one for you. But if you’re into surfing, then this beach is probably the best place to come if you’re looking for quiet great surf spots in Bengkulu. This beach is a nice escape and a truly hidden gem for experienced surfers.
Samudra Ujung beach is strongly recommended for surfers. Plenty of good waves break on the reefs, including “long lefts and rights”. Early or late in the day on a mid to high tide will be the best time for a surf when the swell gets bigger. So far, only a few local or foreign surfers come to surf here.
If you want to try to surf here, it will be a frustrating trip taking a non-chartered car. It will be easier to get here by paying more for a chartered angkot (city public transport) for Rp 80,000 or around US$ 6 (return trip). Keep in mind, don't get into the vehicle until you've agreed on a fare you are comfortable paying, and even better pay from your stack of smaller bills so that the driver will not owe you any change. There is no hotel or food stall nearby the surf spots, so bring your own food, drink and gears! No entrance fee, except on Eid al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha holidays, visitors are charged by the locals for Rp. 1,000 per person. #Letsguide #surfspot #hidden
