Dari pas masih SMP/SMA udah sering diajak Mama makan mie ini. Dulu biasanya kesempatan makan mie ini kalau sambil anter Mama benerin knalpot mobil. Itu sebabnya, mie ini dulu dikenal dengan nama Mie Knalpot karena lokasi berjualannya yang tepat di depan bengkel knalpot.
