Grand Hotel Preanger

Grand preanger hotel is one of my favourite hotel in Indonesia. It's been 3 years I haven't been to this hotel since covid started. This hotel quite good, not much expectation for old hotel.
We booked for 2 nights, ( deposit paid for 1 room ), 1 of my family members came to check in around 4pm. The receptionist staff said to pay off for 2 nights otherwise can't check in. We paid deposit, how come they don't let us to check in at least for 1 room?

And also my high expectation from this hotel is the breakfast. 3 years ago the food was really good, but unfortunately this time the foods terrible, too salty, some food are tasteless, fried chicken smell bad, black bean porridge taste burning. I paid 135k rupiah, it's not worth it at all.
Never had this experience before. So disappointed.

After trying to get a decent place for a week in Bandung, we decided to use Agoda's review and try this place. BIG MISTAKE. First the good. Big spacious room, comfortable bed, safe, good location(more on that) Nice facilities. Very helpful front desk. Now the Bad. It certainly is dated(I know that it is an historic hotel) The bathroom need a redo for sure. Restaurant pricing was high. NO alcohol, except beer in their lounge. Breakfast that we included, was not good. Didn't even have Ice tea, had to ask for it. The location while somewhat center of Bandung, was noisy as Fu$#. The room certainly were not sound proof. At first when we checked in they gave us a room in the OLD part of the Hotel facing the street. It was a non smoking room, however Not a NON-smoking floor. There were people smoking right next to our room. Unacceptable. We asked to change rooms. Then the put us in an entirely different part of the hotel. Construction was going on. I don't understand why they could not put us in a Tower Room that was modern and away from the noise. But they didn't. Finally, of course there are NO ice machines in these hotels in Indonesia and they charged 3 US dollars for a buck of Ice. Unreal. Stay away if you find this helpful. We regretted it after the first 2 nights.

We're staying in executive twin room, the same floor with reception, restaurant and swimming pool. The room's view is the main street.
We're happy with the location and the room, it's spacious and well equipped - rate is fair, everything is fairly clean considering it's been in service for a looong time.
There's a convenient store Indomaret fresh at the ground floor and it's quite complete, helps a lot. Breakfast is good but if you are Indonesian in Bandung - home of various tasty traditional food - you might want to go out adventure the city's offer.
Staffs are courteous, professional and helpful when I ask for a soft pillow they quickly delivered it to our room.
But if you like your towel bright white you might want to bring your own. Me I just use it.
And also it would be nice to have someone greet us upon arrival,
The swimming pool is not big but enough for exercising, but it seems in the weekend too many kids. There's no shower room near the pool but a toilet is available

From the outside the hotel looks historical, the hotel room is neat and tidy, the breakfast is also good, and it has a swimming pool too.
Overall, it's a nice hotel and it's in the centre of Bandung.

A very nice hotel, excellent service, friendly, helpful and curteous staff, very nice breakfast, clean rooms, a convenient mini market, location in center of business, walking distance to Asia Afrika, Braga, alun alun and kepatihan. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Preanger, I look forward to staying at Preanger on my next visit to Bandung. :)

The room was good, fridge, n big enough, but please check your detail, behind the headrest bed was dirty n dusty..
Service was good, any facilities not works nicely (ex: exhause fan at toilet), other than good

Need renovation, some black spot in the roof, chair seem very dirty and old.
Breakfast is so so..
