I travel between Jakarta-Bandar Lampung a lot. I've been quite a regular here with around 5-6 of two-to-four-night stays on average annually since 2018, so I can say I've stayed in Batiqa on no less than 20 different occasions with around 100 nights in total.
+ Located strategically in Bandar Lampung, close to Indomaret, Kimia Farma, Padang restaurant (Puti Minang), and gas station. Damri from Jakarta also passes this hotel so if you take Damri from Jakarta, you can get off the bus right in front of Batiqa.
+ Cozy and clean room with nice wooden interior.
+ Aircon always works well in general.
+ Good-looking and firm wooden table in the corner is very useful.
+ Nice couch.
+ Comfy King Koil beds with huge pillows.
+ Nice and clean bathroom with good interior.
+ Various TV channels with quite stable reception.
+ WIFI might not be the fastest but works generally fine enough for social media or youtube and rarely error.
+ Quite sound-proof walls.
+ Huge window with great view of Bandar Lampung whichever side of hotel you face
+ Friendly and helpful staff (e.g. Mr. Leo the security/driver and Mr. Samin the housekeeper. Mr. Samin is very helpful and polite. On one occasion, he really tried his best to assist me, making my room more comfortable to stay in. Seems quite a nice guy as well)
+ Arguably one of the best hotel food in their class of Lampung hotels, I would give it 8 out of 10 in terms of taste and standard. Breakfast might not provide the most varieties but they have been successfully maintaining the taste standard very well-balanced since the first time I ate there in 2018. Well done, kitchen team.
+ Great ambience in the restaurant.
+ Responsive staff when contacted via whatsapp.
+ Easy to book via whatsapp or Batiqa's website. I always get promotional price if I book through smartphone. There are also other promotions, depend on the occasions.
+ They provide airport transfer with a more reasonable price than the online taxi.
+ They always decorate the lobby with unique and interesting themes (e.g. recently it's the 80's, they even have an old radio broadcasting and 80's calendar on the lobby wall), quite instagrammable.
+ One of the staffs made a serious mistake before and drove me really angry (I won't tell the details) but they responded my complaint very quickly and apologized. I would say they handled it very professionally and well, they made up for their own mistakes which I really appreciate.
- Very cramped parking space.
- Seriously in need of new bed sheets. Most of them are either stained disgustingly or torn. I ALWAYS have to ask the housekeeping staff to change the sheets every time I see the room for the first time after checking in.
- Sometimes housekeeping staffs joking at each other in the corridor too loudly. They really need to keep it down because it's very disturbing the guests.
- The elevator has no access card so anyone can access any floor which I think is not safe enough for the guests. Considering the criminal reputation and stereotype of Lampung, I personally think this is a serious matter.
- The shower generally is not so stable when set to warm, the water keep changing to cold and warm and cold and warm and so on by itself.
- No hairdryer provided (I'm not sure if it's available by request, but there's no hairdryer in the room)
- Sandals, amenities, and laundry bag usually have to be requested first, not provided in the room by default.
- I found some aircon's or TV's remote control dirty. Please regularly clean them thoroughly.
- Most of the times I stay, they only provide one room key by default. Two would be great, especially for families.
To summarize, in spite of the flaws, Batiqa Hotel has cemented its place as one of the best hotels in Bandar Lampung as they provide a splendid staycation experience overall. There's always room for improvement for Batiqa Hotel, but I would 100% always choose Batiqa Hotel everytime I go to Bandar Lampung. I look forward to my next stay there.
