My friends and I were trying to make the most of our last day in Bali. After we had finished dancing at a place called Sky Garden, a few of us were hungry and so naturally we’ve decided to grab a quick bite to eat. However, with it being so late our options were very limited. The first place we tried didn’t accept cards, which was all we had as a form of payment since we spent all our cash the day prior. We continued to walk until we saw another restaurant by the name of “W bar u0026 Restaurant”. Upon approaching the venue, a large man was standing outside wearing a black polo with the word Security printed on the front of it. I asked him if they accepted cards at this establishment, to which he responded with a nod and said yes. We then proceeded to enter the restaurant, and the girls that wanted food went on to place their order. I went to use the restroom. When I returned, the waitress was engaged in a conversation with my friends, telling them that the venue does not accept credit cards. As a result, we informed her that she can cancel the order and that we’re leaving (and so we did). It is also Important to mention that we walked out of the establishment EMPTY HANDED and that NO FOOD WAS CONSUMED!!! As we wait outside for the taxi, the waitress approaches me, telling me to pay my bill which was obnoxious on its own since the girl who placed the food order was 5’2 an we share no similarities except for the color of our skin (BLACK). I proceeded to tell the waitress that we’re simply leaving, who at this point was poking me with her nails demanding money because according to her, the food was already made and so we must pay. I tell her to lower her voice and keep her hands to herself which she of course ignores. I remain calm. She then tells me to take out money from the ATM. I respond with a no, especially since the food order wasn’t even mine. She then calls the security guard over (in Balinese), who then pretends to have never heard me ask whether they accepted credit cards or not. Here’s the interesting part... At this point the waitress all of a sudden tells me that if I wish to use my card, I must spend the equivalent of $100 US. I said no as the meal was going to be about $4 US at best (never mind the fact that we never even got anything). At this point I also reiterated the fact that it must have been a misunderstanding as we were misinformed by the security guard. She wasn’t having it. Around this time large men started to gather around us. The waitress then approached another girl who I was traveling with and began to be aggressive with her too, demanding payment. This time around she was pinching the girl with her nails, and placing her hands in her face. The girl told her to stop. The waitress then proceeded to push her, and so the girl pushed her back. After that, the waitress swung at the girl aiming for her face. I really didn’t want things to escalate further so I pulled the girls apart to end things right there and then. Needless to say, IT DIDN’T END THERE! My hair was pulled by the waitress but still, my hands remained to myself. At this point other MEN JUMPED IN (the security guard included). I was punched in my face, and hit with a street sign, also on my face. My hands still remained to myself as more MEN WERE ATTACKING US. I begged for them to stop, but they laughed at me, with tears rolling down from my face as I continued to pull them off of my friends just to receive more blows. Nobody helped us. Now, about 10 MEN WERE ATTACKING 4 BLACK GIRLS. The Restaurant was full and NO ONE HELPED! Some of the bystanders actually jumped into this raging mob, making things even worse. My friend’s iPhone X was stolen in the process as she dropped it while these
grown men were attacking her 5’2 small frame. She and I were the last to escape but not before they threatened to kill us multiple times. They were chasing us with street signs, and throwing anything they could get their hands on, including large glass objects. Please DO NOT GO HERE
