Pelan Pelan is a magical place. I had the best experience here, and hands down it was my favorite part of my entire Bali experience. I did the yoga and surf package, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Regarding the surfing:

- the instructors are fantastic and truly love surfing. They really encourage you and are patient with you (like when you’re nervous!) I came here and essentially learned everything I had taught myself surfing was wrong and had to reset and relearn. It wasn’t easy but but by the end of my 5 days I caught the highest wave thus far!

-yoga: the yoga teachers were so good! They will work with you at any level to give you a good experience. They certainly pushed me as I wanted and I was very impressed.

-Spa: I had a few massages here and thoroughly enjoyed them all!

- experience: I booked this place because I had seen positive reviews from many female solo travelers. I am so glad I came here because I met so many fellow solo female travelers, who are now my lifelong friends! I felt safe at Pelan and the staff were extremely caring and accommodating to ensure a good experience consistent with your needs. The food was fantastic and while it’s a bit off the main road they do a great job to get access to the town every night! I ???? recommend Pelan, but especially to my fellow female solo travelers looking for the best retreat and experience.

As soon as I saw the huge fluffy bath sheet on my beautifully made bed (complete with flowers) I knew it was going to be a good trip. Five stars for the thoughtful touches to our rooms. I booked Pelan Pelan at short notice for a week on the surf package with additional surfing each afternoon. Pretty much from day one at breakfast - food gets 5 stars too - I had connected with the other like minded guests so had a perfect mix of my own time and cool people to hang out with in the evenings. Surf coaches are fab as are the reception and kitchen and ground staff.... everyone was in fact and hospitality could not be faulted. I would 100% recommend Pelan Pelan if you're a first time solo traveller or it's your first time in Bali - it's a nice way to ease yourself in. Having said that as a regular to Bali over many years I would also come back again Thanks Emma and Putu for creating a beautiful resort with a great chilled vibe.

This was the perfect way to land in Bali. I came in as a solo traveller and immediately made excellent friends with some of the other guests. The kitchen is very accommodating of food sensitivities, and the food was delicious. The staff and owners are very connected in the island community and really know all of the good spots.

For surfing, the instructors are professional and knowledgeable. I went from having had 2 prior lessons to dropping in on 2.5 meter waves in 2 weeks.

My stay with Pelan Pelan is over, but I am still on the island and have been able to continue meeting them for additional instruction.

Absolutely amazing place! Can't speak highly enough of them. The location is amazing, the rooms are beautiful. Everything is spotless and well equipped. The staff are amazing, you really feel like part of the family. I was a solo traveller and there were many others as well, as well as some couples. Everyone got along, everyone ate together. Food was excellent. Yoga was excellent, we were taken to surf spots I have never been to or heard of before, really well taken care of in the surf. I really can't fault anything at all. I highly recommend, and will definitely return again! Thank you guys all so much, I came back home a new man!

I stayed here for 2 weeks in April and had SUCH a good time, I am going back in July with my two girls. The surf coaches were so kind and incredible, I love that you get the same coach the whole time. The staff were all like family and you start to make the most incredible bond with them. Nothing is too hard for them to help you with. Putu went out of his way to get my watch fixed, Meita was an absolute darling and had the most incredible conversations with you. All the people that stay there were diverse, and interesting and I made some great friends. The food was beautiful, and the gardens, hangout areas and the pool was divine. I could really go on and on but I will stop and say - it was the best holiday I have had in a really really long time.

Pelan Pelan has become a home for me. I have stayed in other retreat centres and hostels, what sets Pelan is the sense of community they create here. As a solo traveller, I was fully welcomed by the Pelan team and the group of surfers/ campers here. If you need your own space, you will feel no pressure to go off your own. Everything is well-thought out, organised, and intentional at the resort. Big thanks and congrats to ℙ???????????? and Emma on this!

The surfing lessons were great. My guide Alit is a patient and encouraging coach. Teacher to student ratio is 1:2. You will get a lot of attention. The lessons usually start early but that means you get good waves and when the sea is not crowded.

i really like the routine and how restful Pelan has made me feel. Thank you so much. Terima kasih.

Good to know:

- the town is not really walking distance away, but usually I would stay at the resort until the shuttle that runs daily into town.

- I am trying to think what else but honestly nothing else to complain about.

My stay at Pelan Pelan was like a daydream, it was just what I needed and it was beyond my expectations.
I stayed 3 weeks in this paradise to recharge my batteries and learn to surf.
I was more than delighted with the welcome given, the staff is so kind and attentive. You immediately feel at home and Pelan Pelan is a real family, especially since we are only 14 guests maximum, it's perfect to stay in a Zen atmosphere.
I loved being away from the crowds of Canggu, Pelan Pelan is a peaceful haven in the middle of the rice fields. Everything is well thought out to make your stay a real paradise: the green spaces are very well maintained, the vegetation is lush, the pool area is pleasant, the facilities and rooms are clean and well laid out.
The surf lessons were great, I sincerely thank all the instructors who are very professional and who adapt to our level. We were only 2 guests for a single instructor which allows us to have real personalized advices and facilitates our progress.
I also discovered yoga during my stay. What a great discovery thanks to Sida and Puspa! We had 2 different types of yoga (Yin and Power), but both complementary. Coupled with the morning surf, it was the best combination! Followed by a massage, it's the perfect typical day between sport and relaxation. The masseuses are also very talented. Having a massage is a real break outside of time and this allows you to escape completely.
Finally, the food was absolutely delicious, homemade, healthy and diversified. A real delight every day thanks to the two cooks Putu and Kadek.

So, I have only one thing to add: I miss Pelan Pelan family very much and I hope to be able to come back one day to this paradise. I 1000% recommend this surf and yoga retreat, so go for it!!!
