We really wanted to love this hotel and give it a 5/5 but unfortunately we had disappointments that I think should not happen when you pay a certain price, especially in a 5-star hotel.
The major point was regarding the bed. We kept getting some brown stuff falling on our bed and pillows from the canopy and/or the roof (see photos). I get that we are in an open environment and that some things are unavoidable (like insects) but I think that cleanliness could have been better cause all that brown stuff was inside the canopy and when we shook it, everything was falling on the sheets. The canopy smelled really bad and was really stained (see photos) there were holes in it that looked like cigarettes burns and the first day we even found a small poo from whatever animal which was very obvious and showed that the room wasn't inspected in detail before checking in guests. Sheets, pillows and towels did not smell the best either, as if they were still humid and I was expecting a very clean scent. I feel essential oils could be diffused in the room (there is a diffuser but doesn't diffuse any smell).
By the way, it was written that towels needing to be changed should be put in the bathtub but the housekeeping changed it even twice a day which I think is unnecessary, even though we just hanged them still wanting them for the next day.
Other things: bed mattress is saggy in the middle, I found the pillows were all too big (when usually they are several sizes to fit all guests' preferences) and I expected a fridge in the room for that price. One of the outside lights cannot be switched off which made it impossible to have a full dark room.
Apart from that, I really want to point out that all the staff was particularly kind, caring and respectful. The food is exquisite even though I think that some prices are too high for the quantity. The place itself is a gem, what has been done is work of art, whether it is by the pool area, the constructions or the beautiful garden.
I hope you understand my comment as I way of helping to improve and not as a free criticism.
